Stem-cell claim gets cold reception - Carbon nanotubes used to reprogramme adult human cells?

Ill admit im in the dark about stem cell reasearch. As I "believe" most human beings are, but this article published in freerepublics.com by David Cyranoski & Monya Baker has me wondering why we are not looking in to it as much as we should. As much as we know about stem cells there is even more that we dont know. Last year, researchers led by Shinya Yamanaka of Kyoto University were able to reprogramme adult skin cells (using carbon nanotubes as a vesel for complex proteins) into a stem cell like pluripotent state... Sounds really confusing, but to dum it down, it really means that the new stem cell like pluripotent can be molded into any of the bodys cell types. Wich is good news for cancerous patients. The nanotubes carry cancer targeting drugs, proteins and DNA2 into the cells wich then get absorbed and start expressing proteins. Why not fund this claim, well the cells work for about 14 days. After that the cells stop producing as fast as they started. True embryonic stem cells and iPS cells exhibit pluripotent markers and proliferate quickly and endlessly. We still have a lot of work ahead and the best thing we need right now is a boost in the right direction. I really hope someone speaks up and convinces whoever we need to convince that this is not a waste of time. You might win a Noble Prize.
